Promoting Sustainability

Sustainability is one of Humber College's six values and we are creating a culture of sustainability on our campuses and in our surrounding communities.

As a learning institution and member of the community, we are a central place to shape the future of sustainability. We foster a culture of sustainability by leading by example: how we operate our buildings and interact with the physical environments and communities around us, and in the way we teach and learn about sustainability. By incorporating economic, social and environmental sustainability across the college, we are building a better tomorrow. Please ensure you post all materials online.

Additionally, Humber College has made the switch to 100% Post-Consumer Waste (PCW) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, which is ECOLOGO certified, manufactured using Biogas Energy and chlorine-free. All paper used at Humber will be made from 100% recycled fibre and has met the FSC's rigorous social and environmental standards. As a result, we will reduce around 54 tonnes of Co2e, which is equivalent to planting 700 trees annually.

As a result of these changes, the cost of paper has increased. However, Humber has introduced many other initiatives, including DocuSign, to help transition the community to a fully digital campus, and we’ve experienced over a 92% decrease in printing across the institution since COVID began.

Now more than ever, we are asking you to consider whether you need to print.
