My name is Ajanthan, and I am an emerging designer. Industrial design has allowed me to further develop my passion for design and has allowed me to explore the variety of forms in which design can exist. I look forward to applying my design skills to new and unique opportunities that have yet to exist and strive to continuously improve my abilities.
The four essential pillars encompass human-centric design approach and the understanding of full-bodied, three dimensional physical interaction of user, product and environment. The projects generate innovative solutions using research-driven, evidence-based designs which focus on the user experience.
Recover is a vehicle that enhances tow operations by making the operation more comfortable, efficient, and safe while reducing the indirect impacts on accident victims and the public.
It targets the dangers that tow operators face while on the job. With increased efficiency of the operation, it also aims to assist the victims involved, which indirectly reduces the traffic congestion that quite commonly occurs.
This design focuses on reducing exposure to roadside hazards, high speeds, and rough weather.
After looking into the user journey of a tow operator, the vehicle is designed to make the entire operation quicker. The equipment is designed to be operated within the vehicle, while also having features such as additional storage for loose parts, equipment, and debris disposal.
The design not only focuses on the tow operator but also takes into consideration victims involved in car collisions.
The interior of the vehicle is designed with both users in mind. The front of the vehicle focuses on the needs of the operator, which focuses on providing an effective space for operating the equipment. While the rear focuses on a comfortable space for victims to relax and focus on the next steps.
The tow vehicle will be electric, while also using durable materials that are light to maintain energy efficiency.
EVs have a reduced environmental impact on the environment and have demonstrated their towing capabilities. Energy efficiency is also a crucial component in reducing the overall power consumption for this vehicle. This will be achieved through light but durable materials to provide safety for the passengers while countering the weight it will be carrying when towing.
As the number of commuters increases, congestion and traffic continue to rise. These conditions worsen when breakdowns and accidents involving vehicles occur. It is the towing industry that is responsible for assisting with the clearing up of these incidents regularly. Recover, aims to combat the dangers these individuals face while also enhancing tow operations.
