Camryn is a detail-orientated creative who is passionate about functional design and the impact that interior design has on its users. Her passion for the industry was ingrained at a young age and nurtured by her parents who sparked her creativity and artistic expression. Experiencing various design styles during her travels profoundly inspired her aspiration to pursue the industry. Camryn's time at Humber has allowed her to delve into diverse projects, refining her skills and exploring innovative design concepts and strategies.
This thesis focuses on establishing an education and resource center for aspiring women-identifying entrepreneurs. By recognizing gender-based obstacles, barriers, and discrepancies in entrepreneurial education, This project aims to address the lack of inclusive physical learning spaces for women entrepreneurs. This project formulates an empowering and supportive educational hub, characterized by innovative interior design strategies. The proposed design envisions the development of an empowering educational hub that implements and utilizes design strategies to foster an inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Entrepreneurial Education and Resource Center aims to facilitate skill acquisition, collaboration, and resource access, promoting innovation, diversity, economic empowerment, and overall success for women.
“Organic Collision” describes the serendipitous interactions between entrepreneurs within an environment and encourages creativity, participation, and collaboration. This conceptual ideation is represented by a deliberate variation of forms and figures that celebrate the diversity and multifaceted nature of women's entrepreneurial endeavours, showcasing the unique journeys and experiences that contribute to the tapestry of collective entrepreneurial success amongst women.
The Education and Resource Centre for Aspiring Women features an entrepreneurial connection café open to students, faculty, and the public to harbour organic collisions and spark interaction, connection and collaboration. A childcare centre is conveniently located next to the café to eliminate all barriers for women to succeed and open to the public as well so that entrepreneurs can bring their children and participate in discussions and ideas with aspiring women entrepreneurs.
Other facilities include a mentor resource centre, lecture hall & event space, independent study, meeting rooms, entrepreneurial education & training classrooms, a technology lab, staff & faculty lounge and offices, and a student innovation hub & café space.
