Our initiative revolves around the creation of a second-hand store tailored to support Humber College Interior Design students in obtaining supplies necessary for new school programs. The purpose behind this endeavour is to mitigate the stress typically associated with the back-to-school period by providing a platform for the exchange of surplus materials. As students advance through their educational journey, their requirements often shift from traditional manual tools to digital resources, resulting in a surplus of unused materials.
Our proposal seeks to address this by creating a Give & Take "thrift store", where individuals can donate their surplus materials and acquire items they need, thus fostering a culture of resourcefulness and waste reduction. The event ran from the 11th to the 15th of September, 2023. This initiative aims to not only facilitate material exchange but also to contribute towards minimizing waste within our community. Through this endeavour, we aspired to create a sustainable solution that benefits both students and the environment alike.
