Yes, Humber has a gospel choir and, with over 40 members this year, it's the largest Humber ensemble in the history of the music program. The ensemble was launched in 2013 as one of the music department's 50+ ensembles that run each year.
This year, after much lobbying, choir director and music professor Brad Klump was able to get the ensemble opened up to non-music students - it's now officially a 0 credit, no-fee course offered to any full-time Humber student, who passes the basic singing audition.
"Excitingly, there are four students from outside programs, and even one faculty member!"
Brad says their goal is to build community both inside and outside the school, performing at many on and off-campus events during the school year, including at Lakeshore Lodge, the senior's residence next door to the Lakeshore campus. Auditions have been completed for this semester, but Brad will hold auditions again in the first week of the Winter semester.
Humber's gospel choir will perform on Wednesday, October 8th at 12:15 in the Auditorium. For more info, check the event listing here.
