Community Week is a tradition in the Theatre Performance and Theatre Production programs, introducing the full student body to community-based creation. Over 5 days, all 120 students work together under the guidance of some of Canada’s leading artists to develop a performance.
The 2016 artist-team was led by Tara Beagan and Andy Moro, the artist/creators who form the creation company Article 11. Article 11 creates art through an inclusive model inspired by traditional Indigenous ways of living. Other artists on the Community Week team included Audrey Dwyer (actor, director and artistic director of Cow Over Moon Children’s Theatre), Donna-Michelle St. Bernard (writer, director and hip-hop artist as her alter-ego Belladonna), Aria Evans (dancer, choreographer, media artist) and Laird Macdonald (one of Toronto’s leading lighting and set designers, production manager and technical director).
