This past June, Humber Media Studies & IT gathered at the North Campus to celebrate and exhibit the talent produced by our CE Photographic Techniques students. The diverse backgrounds and professions of the students resulted in an extensive assortment of photographs to enjoy during this one-night show.
The judges scored each of the 100+ submission on storytelling, technique, colour and impact. The overall winners were chosen from the winning photos in each category.
Here are this years winners:
WINNERS
'The Bond' by Trisha Gillings
Portrait Winner: Mongolia has a centures old tradition of using eagles to help the men hunt for foxes which provide food and fur for winter clothing. Man and eagle must form a strong bond in order to hunt together as one entity.
"Hepatica" by Ed Espin
Still Life Winner: Beautiful wild flowers.
"Death is all Around Us" by: Trisha Gillings
Documentary Winner: In Orthodox Jewish Communities in Israel, technology is at a minimum. So Community bulletin boards post recent death notices. In this photo, a young Jewish man stops to read the death notices.
"Eastern Blue Bird" by: Judy Preston
Animals/Wildlife Winner: The image is my first attempt at photographing birds. This little Blue bird has a bright blue back and bricked red chest ,smaller than Blue Jays. They nest in bird houses and both parents feed their young. They are members of the Thrush family.
