Overview

This micro-credential prepares learners to ensure educational and professional content is accessible to all by developing the essential skills required to serve as accessibility-focused captioners and note-takers for clients with disabilities in academic or business settings. Guided by an accessibility expert, students will explore this essential industry and put their skills into practice through exercises and real-world simulations. 

 

Competency Achieved

The earner of this micro-credential can efficiently take notes, manually caption lectures and videos, and make documents accessible to users who use screen readers to process their documents.

 

Delivery Format

Live, online 1hr weekly class, (will be recorded and posted for those that cannot attend) - plus approximately 1-2hrs of self-study each week.

H-M Teo

H-M has been captioning and note-taking since 2014, and has worked with a myriad of corporate and post-secondary clients over the years. In 2021, H-M obtained a Master's in Educational Technology, with a research focus on the application of existing learning theories and technologies to each major facet of perception, and its impact of improving accessibility in education. They are excited to see how this industry will evolve and help to enhance the educational experience for all types of learners.
