Humber School for Writers grad Cathie Borrie wrote The Long Hello in 2008, just as the economy crashed. The book, subtitled Memory, My Mother, and Me, is about dementia, and she was told over and over that "books about Alzheimer’s don’t sell, or that the market is saturated with memoirs about Alzheimer’s".
But Cathie didn't give up and the book was finally published in 2014.
