Working on a new project? Need a quiet space to write and to connect with other professionals? The Toronto Writers’ Centre can help!
Humber School for Writers students and recent graduates (within the last three calendar years) are now eligible for a discounted membership for their first three months at The Toronto Writers’ Centre (TWC).
Located in the heart of Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood, the TWC is equal parts coworking space and community centre. Established and emerging writers work in companionable silence in the TWC’s 28 quiet work spaces, and network while overcoming writer’s block in the shared lounge and kitchen spaces. Need space to conduct interviews or meetings, or to collaborate? The TWC boardroom is ideal for this.
But the benefits of TWC membership are more than just professional. They’re social, too.
“Writing is for the most part a solitary business,” says author Giles Blunt, a School for Writers mentor and TWC member. “But the Toronto Writers Centre makes one’s life far easier by providing not just peace and quiet, but the collegiality of shared endeavour, shared productivity.”
It’s a sentiment that fellow mentor and TWC member Antanas Sileika echoes. “In the ten years I have worked on and off at the Centre, I have made literary friends I keep to this day, and the place is at least partially responsible for any literary goals I have achieved.”
