Jazz in the Schools, 2015

Humber Music's "Jazz in the Schools" program had another fantastic year in 2015, visiting over 50 schools (after receiving over 100 applications!) and reaching over 10,000 students!

The Jazz in the Schools band made up of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year Humber Music students who perform concert that tells a condensed history of jazz, illustrating the influence historical events have had on jazz and in turn, how it has impacted a variety of musical styles.

Through the support of Humber College, JazzFM.91 and the TDSB, the program is offered free to schools in the TDSB.

Band members this year included: Jeremy Tozer, Kimya Hypolite, and Elena Rawlins on vocals, Jesse Ryan on alto sax, Brenden Varty on tenor sax, Stephen Griffiths on trumpet, William Carn on trombone; Ben Lemma on guitar, Deniz Lim-Sersan on keyboard, David MacLean on bass, Julian DiVito on drums and Nico Frangini on percussion. The sound engineer was Nathan Whitney, alternate sound engineer was Andy Pryde. The band was led this year by William Carn with assistance from Dave Neill.
