Nathan Whitney

Nathan Whitney loved his time studying music at Humber so much that he graduated twice—once, in 2003, from the now-retired music diploma program, and again in 2012 from Humber’s Bachelor of Music program. We caught up with him via email to hear more about his Humber Music experience and his life as a touring musician since then.

NOW

I’m currently playing guitar for The Valory Music Co/Big Machine Label Group artist Thomas Rhett. This is an exciting project as Thomas is writing great music and is being recognized for it. His recent release, Life Changes, went to number one on the Billboard Album Charts, and we are playing arenas and amphitheaters in support of this record.

THEN

Before working with Thomas Rhett, I toured with the alternative act BANNΞRS and country artists Autumn Hill and Kira Isabella.

HUMBER

Humber provided me with the opportunity to refine my skills on my instrument as well as the chance to learn and work with some of Canada’s music industry leaders. One of the most memorable experiences was working on my final recording project with my supervisor, Rik Emmett. Having Rik’s experience at my disposal allowed me not only to refine the musical experience, but helped to reinforce and pinpoint the business aspects of a recording project.
