RBD Success Stories

As the year comes to a close, our Radio and Broadcasting Diploma students, faculty and alumni show no intentions of slowing down. From awards nominations, to securing jobs, to getting involved with some truly interesting projects, the Humber RBD community is using their talent to shape the Radio landscape in Canada. Here is a selection of the success the RBD community has been involved with recently:

Crystals Awards

The Crystals Award recognizes excellence in Canadian Radio creative. With an awards gala in Toronto on May 7th, these awards honour the best creative from advertisers, agencies, and broadcasters. This year two Humber alumni and faculty were nominated for a total of four Crystals Awards. Kyle Taylor, a Radio Lab professor and Humber alum, has three Crystals Award Nominations, and Greg MacDonald, a Creative Production professor and Humber alum, has one nomination with his creative team. Best of luck to both Kyle and Greg on May 7th!

2018 Emerge Media Awards

The Emerge Media Awards' mission is to celebrate and showcase the achievements of journalism, media studies and communications students in Canada. RBD graduating students Stephanie Andrecsik, Josette Lafleur and Ryan Cox were finalists in the Audio Storytelling Category for their submission, "Crickets."

RBD Speaker Series

Part of the Career Preparation for Radio involves a Speaker Series. In this series, a variety of broadcasting professionals speak to students about their experiences working in the radio industry. Read more about the speakers through the perspectives of attending RBD students.

A further congrats to our graduating students who have secured jobs in Regina, Alberta, Newfoundland and here in Toronto.
