Faculty Spotlight: Viv Moore

Outside of Humber, what creative projects are you working on?

  • Under The Stairs, Young People’s Theatre (Movement Director)
  • Antigone, Young People’s Theatre (Movement Director)
  • Resident Artist Educator, Young People’s Theatre
  • Pomegranate, Buddies in Bad Times (Choreographer)

How does your own creative work shape what you do in the classroom?

I teach what I practice in my process work and my choreography.

What do you most enjoy about teaching?

When I am able to get a concept across; when I can see how much they are willing and open to jump in after initially being somewhat wary.

As a faculty member, you inspire the next generation of artists. Who or what inspires you?

I always keep my eyes and ears open for exciting international artists.

There are certain methods and styles of movement and dance that are most exciting to me, so I keep my eyes open for new works.

What’s the most valuable piece of professional advice you were given as a student yourself?

I was shown kindness and given a lot of space to make mistakes and therefore to grow.
