Advertising Grad Wins Applied Arts Student Award

Laura Cordova, a recent graduate of the Advertising & Graphic Design program, won an Applied Arts Student Award in the category of "Advertising Series" for her collection of Moleskin ads. Laura couldn't have won this on her own, however, students Samantha R. and James S. provided the copy on Laura's winning submission. Applied Arts Magazine organizes this competition, and a panel of industry professionals judges each submission. Currently, Laura is hard at work at TAXI, a Toronto advertising agency, as an art director intern.

As a winner, Laura will receive several exciting prizes. First and foremost, Applied Arts Magazine will showcase her winning submission in their upcoming November/December 2017 issue, along with her contact info and a short description of her winning work. Other prizes Laura will receive include: having her winning piece featured on the Applied Arts' online gallery, as well as at an Applied Arts event; a personalized Award Certificate; and digital tear sheets of her work that she can use for her portfolio.

Applied Arts Magazine is Canada's premier magazine of visual communications, featuring the latest opinions, news and images from the creative advertising industry in Canada and abroad. Their annual Applied Arts Awards are the only competition in Canada that recognizes the talents of professionals across the visual communications sector.

Laura is the most recent Advertising and Graphic Design student to win an Applied Arts Student Award, as two AGD students won in 2016 and one student won in 2015.

In addition to the Applied Arts Student Award, Laura's Moleskin Campaign also won an award from the Advertising & Design Club of Canada (ADCC). The campaign will be featured at ADCC's Directions 2017 awards annual, at their show, and on their archive. Additionally, Laura and her team will receive a physical award this November at ADCC's Directions 2017 Awards Show.

Congratulations to Laura, Samantha and James on their achievement.
