Calling All Humber BFMP/FMTV Grads Applying for Telefilm’s Talent to Watch Program

Program Information

Humber Polytechnic is inviting recent graduates of BFMP and FMTV to apply for Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch Program. The program provides financing for the production of a first feature-length film or documentary project. As an Industry Partner, Humber can recommend a project whose director is a recent alumnus of the BFMP or FMTV programs (within the past five years).

Selected projects are eligible for a maximum contribution of $250,000 for feature films and $150,000 for theatrical documentaries. Please note that the total budget for projects submitted to Telefilm is between $150,000 and $500,000.

In addition, the key members of all projects recommended by Humber must be emerging talent, i.e. they must have previously produced, directed and/or written at least one short film but cannot have previously held the same key position on a feature length film. All key creatives must also be either Canadian citizens or permanent residents (see Telefilm guidelines). Humber Polytechnic strongly encourages applications for projects whose key creatives reflect diversity from various communities, including Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+ as well as People with Disabilities.

The deadline for submitting projects to Humber for consideration is 11:59 pm Eastern time on Feb 27, 2026. Please note that this deadline has been set to allow time to review and advise applicants in advance of Telefilm’s application window.

Please read Telefilm’s full set of guidelines and Essential Information Guide before applying to Humber. Please make sure that you consult these guidelines BEFORE contacting us with questions.
