Ashley Shields-Muir

Ashley Shields-Muir graduated from Humber’s Television Writing and Producing program in 2008 and has gone on to produce work for both the big and small screen. As she prepares for her second Toronto International Film Festival premiere, she shared details of current, recent, and future projects.

NOW

At the moment I’m busy with a few different projects. I have a short film, called Lira’s Forest, which is premiering at TIFF this month and proceeding to make the festival circuit over the next few months. I’m also in post-production on a documentary film for the Criterion Collection, in partnership with their new streaming platform, FilmStruck. We also have a feature film in development as well, with hopes of going into production summer 2018. It’s all very exciting!

THEN

Since leaving Humber, I worked on a long list of network and cable television shows, and a few feature films. Most notably, I spent a few years associate producing on a TV show for TNT and Amblin Television called Falling Skies. In 2015, I formed Big & Quiet Pictures, a Toronto-based production company with my filmmaking partner Connor Jessup. We continue to produce work under this umbrella.

HUMBER

My program at Humber was really valuable in that I met a lot of interesting and talented people, many of whom I’m still friends with today and are on the top of my list to collaborate with on future work.
