Humber Theatre Arts - Production alumni have some of the most exciting careers in the arts. Many travel the world and many others start their own businesses. Jordan Konek, on the other hand, has done both of those things. We caught up with this enterprising former student via email to hear more about his inspiring work in Iqaluit and abroad.
NOW:
I am a video journalist for CBC North in Iqaluit, Nunavut, and I own a video production company, Konek Productions.
THEN:
After Humber College I went on to work with researchers as an Inuk researcher. But during my Theatre Arts - Production program at Humber College, we had to do a video presentation or talk in front of our classmates during sociology class. I noticed one of the students did some work with Windows Movie Maker and I wanted to challenge myself on my personal time. And that spark my interest in editing and making videos.
HUMBER:
I have travelled all over the world since then, producing videos and eventually working for CBC. I was recognized with the highest national aboriginal award by Indspire in 2015 for my work as video producer and reporter and researcher.
I was also recognized along with CBC North for our work in coverage of the Arctic Winter Games 2016.
