Lorne Lofsky

Lorne Lofsky teaches in Humber's Community Music program. He told us a bit about music, teaching, and a typical day in his life as a musician.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently in the process of writing some original compositions as well as continually working on evolving conceptually on the guitar. I like the fact that the two go hand in hand.

Describe a typical working day in your life.

I typically practice/play at least 2-3 hours a day in addition to any professional commitments, such as teaching and/or performing.

What made you get into music?

I think initially it was just the sheer enjoyment of trying to play and communicate with other people. If anything, this feeling has intensified dramatically through the years, and as I delve deeper into it, I experience more pleasure and feel more motivated to continue evolving, because it’s a life journey.

What do you like best about teaching?

I enjoy interacting and feeding off the energy of the students. I love the enthusiasm they exude and the sense of commitment that a lot of them have. This type of dedication is absolutely necessary for success in any chosen field, particularly the arts.
