Join production professor Justin Gray for this Music and Masterclass noon-hour presentation on the creation of his recent Grammy-nominated album Immersed — a multi-year project composed, arranged, recorded, and produced entirely in immersive audio (Dolby Atmos). The album is accompanied by a full-length film, and much of it was recorded right here in the Gordon Wragg Recording Studio located in the Humber Community Hub.

In this session, Justin will share select pieces from the album and discuss the creative and technical process behind their production. The workshop offers an accessible introduction to immersive audio for students of all years.

About the Featured Artist

Justin Gray is an award-winning Toronto bassist, composer, producer, and engineer. A leader in immersive audio, he has mixed and mastered thousands of songs in Dolby Atmos, collaborating with artists, producers, and labels worldwide. His credits include Olivia Rodrigo, Snoop Dogg, The Tragically Hip, Brandy, Nelly Furtado, Mother Mother, Blue Rodeo, Arkells, Jann Arden, Karan Aujla, Mae Martin, Marcin, Lola Brooke, and Josh Ross.

Justin’s latest release, Immersed, is a cinematic visual album composed, recorded, and produced specifically for immersive audio. Featuring 38 musicians from around the world, the project places the listener at the center of a global orchestra, with instruments and voices surrounding them from all directions. Each piece was written to unfold around the listener, evolving across a three-dimensional soundscape.

A spatial vision guided the recording process; every sound was performed and captured with its place in the immersive field in mind. The result is an experience in which the Dolby Atmos mix isn’t a translation of the music; it is the music.

A Juno Award winner and lifelong student of Indian classical music, Justin’s work reflects a deep commitment to cross-cultural collaboration and a desire to reimagine how music can be created, shared, and experienced.

Admission is free. No ticket registration necessary, but space is limited.
