Carrie Mac writes stories that she wants to read. Her literary novel Last Winter was a number-one Canadian bestseller. She also writes contemporary and speculative YA that is popular for—and sometimes banned because of—featuring queer protagonists.
Her literary short fiction and creative non-fiction have been published in numerous publications, such as Prism, Room, New Quarterly, Geist, and Hippocampus. Her accolades include a B.C. Book Prize, Arthur Ellis Award, and CBC Nonfiction Prize. She has mentored at Simon Fraser University’s Writer’s Studio, taught at Douglas College, and at the University of Britich Columbia’s School of Writing, from which she holds an MFA. She brings an unpretentious approach and generosity of experience to her mentorships.
She lives with her two kids in East Vancouver, on the stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
