Harriet Alida Lye


Harriet Alida Lye is the author of the novels The Honey Farm (2018, a Barnes & Noble Discover Pick) and Let It Destroy You (2023, Winner of the Prize for Fiction from the Canadian Jewish Literary Awards and shortlisted for the Vine Prize for Fiction), as well as the groundbreaking medical memoir Natural Killer (2020). Harriet's highly anticipated third novel, MOTHER DAUGHTER LOVER CLOWN, will be published in spring 2026. She is the co-author of the children's picture book Serge the Snail Without a Shell (2023) and is working on a chapter book series about a six-year-old on a quest for immortality. Her essays, reviews, and reporting have been published in The Globe & Mail, The New York Times, Vice, Hazlitt, and more. She was the founder and editor in chief of the literary magazine Her Royal Majesty, which ran for six years and focused on publishing writers and artists at the beginning of their careers, and also published early works of established writers, such as the first short story by Alice Munro. She now teaches creative writing and continues to work with authors as a mentor and editor. She has lived in Halifax, Paris, Amsterdam, New York, and now lives in Toronto with her partner, their two children, and two dogs.
