Abstract: The Canadian entertainment software industry is expected to grow exponentially in coming years, and Cell 8 Games has taken the opportunity to partner with Humber to address this trend. The Game On project sought to harness the expertise of the Humber College School of Media Studies and Information Technology to create a novel video game that Cell 8 Games could successfully launch and competitively market in an increasingly elite industry. By tapping into the students of Humber as a valuable resource, Cell 8 Games was able to offset some of the cost of video game development, and thereby reduce the risk of their venture. The college was able to provide the creative talent and technological facilities of the Game Programmer Program to establish a platform that Cell 8 Games will be able to use in the continual development of its competency in the video game industry. The experience not only enhanced student education but simultaneously expanded their marketable skill set in an industry in which recent graduates have the opportunity to be extremely successful. This collaboration allowed for students to gain industry-based experience while still in school which allowed for a quick transition into employment following graduation.
